Fees & Payment — Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy is a big step, and it's completely natural to have questions about costs. I aim to make this process as clear and manageable as possible. Whether you’re using medical aid or paying privately, I’m happy to work with you to find an option that fits your circumstances. Below are some common questions clients often ask — and if you’re still unsure, I’m just a message away.
What are your fees?
My standard fee is R1200 per 50-60minute session.
This is in line with the BHF-recommended medical aid rate for psychology sessions.
Do you accept medical aid?
Yes — I work with most major medical aids in South Africa.
If you have medical aid cover, I can usually submit claims on your behalf. In certain cases, your sessions may be covered in full, depending on your plan and benefits (for example if you meet criteria for PMB’s or have medical savings).
We’ll chat about your medical aid details before our first session to make sure everything is in place.
What if I don't have medical aid or can't afford the full fee?
I understand that therapy is a financial commitment, and I believe that care should be accessible.
I offer a limited number of reduced-fee slots, especially during off-peak times. These are offered based on availability and individual circumstances.
If you’d like to discuss a lower fee, you’re welcome to get in touch — we can see what’s possible together.
Are therapy sessions covered under Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs)?
Some therapy may be covered under Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs) — these are specific mental health conditions that medical aids are legally required to cover in full.
We would need to assess together whether this applies in your case. If so, I’ll help you with the process of getting sessions approved under PMB.
How does payment work?
Medical aid clients: I usually claim directly from your scheme. You won’t need to pay upfront unless your cover runs out.
Private clients: You’ll receive an invoice with EFT payment details, I also have a card machine if you would rather pay via card.
